Dimitris Charalampopoulos is a Professor of Food Biotechnology at the Department of Food and Nutritional Sciences at the University of Reading. His research focuses on the valorisation of food by-products, targeting the production of functional food ingredients and fibres, as well as the development and biodegradable packaging materials.
He was the Director of the BBSRC Network FoodWasteNet and is currently a Co-Director of the BBSRC Biomass Biorefinery Network (BBNet)) and a Co-Investigator in the UKRI Agri-Food Net Zero Network. He is a member of the Food Standards Agency (FSA) Advisory Committee on Novel Foods and Processes and also serves as Senior Editor of Food Chemistry.
