Talk Title: Digital Twins: A new useful modelling paradigm for ecology?

Helmholtz-Zentrum für Umweltforschung GmbH (UFZ), Germany

Jürgen Groeneveld is a researcher in the Department of Ecological Modelling at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research - UFZ in Leipzig, Germany. He studied physics at the University of Marburg and became interested in ecological modelling early on, working on individual- and agent-based simulation models in various systems ranging from neotropical rainforests to the Southern Ocean. More recently, he has been investigating the effects of multiple stressors on bees in European agricultural systems. In this context, he is developing a prototype digital twin to assess bee vitality using land cover and weather data.
